The Town of Cathlamet will be flushing hydrants beginning November 4th through November 15th. Flushing hydrants can be frustrating to both residents and businesses. While it may seem like a waste of good clean water, hydrant flushing is essential to keep your water safe and maintain the integrity of the pipe network. Flushing hydrants is done to not only test the fire flow capacity in the event of a fire, but also to remove sediment and rust from the water lines. In addition, it helps to maintain a proper disinfectant concentration in your service area. So, when you see us out flushing the water system, know we are working to provide you with the safest water possible. You may also notice a slight discoloration in your water and/or decreased water pressure. There are no health risks associated with this action.
We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
