PUBLIC RECORDS REQUESTS.
The town of Cathlamet shall not maintain a current index of records pursuant to RCW 42.56.070. Pursuant to RCW 42.56.070(4)(b), any index maintained for town use by any department within the town shall be available for public inspection and copying under the Public Records Act.
Within five business days you will be sent a notification that your request has been received. Once received, a public records officer will review the records and may redact (remove) information from records as allowed by the public records statute, state law, federal law or case law. The public records officer may also notify third parties who have an interest in the records that you have made a public records request.
Once the public records officer completes the review and records are ready to be released, you will be contacted to approve the charges associated with this request. Depending on the number of requests received before yours, and the size and complexity of your request, responding to your request may take anywhere from two weeks to two months. If a request is very complex, more time may be required. You will be notified if this is the case.
If this public records request is approved, the following charges as per RCW 42.56.120 shall apply and I may be required to pay a 10% deposit prior to the release of information collected under this request.
(i) 15 cents per page for photocopies, printed copies, or use of agency equipment to photocopy.
(ii) 10 cents per page for scanned documents or use of agency equipment to scan documents for electronic format.
(iii) 5 cents per page for each four electronic files or attachments uploaded for electronic delivery.
(iv) 10 cents per gigabyte for the transmission in electronic format or the use of agency equipment to send.
(v) Actual cost of any digital storage media or device provided by the agency, envelopes or postage for delivery.
(c) The charges may be combined to the extent that more than one type of charge applies to copies produced.
(d) Agency may charge a flat fee of up to $2.00 as an alternative, if documents are estimated to cost this amount.
