2022/2023 SMP Periodic Review - The Town of Cathlamet recently conducted a Shoreline Master Program (SMP) Periodic Review, as required by state law (RCW 90.58.080), to ensure our local requirements for use and development along the waterfront stay up-to-date with changes to: State laws & rules; other Town plans & regulations; and local circumstances, new information & improved data. The review process determined that no SMP revisions were needed and the SMP was still adequate as written.


Current Status: 

Pending Ecology determination on whether final submittal is consistent with RCW 90.58 (Shoreline Management Act) and WAC 173-26, Part III (the SMP Guidelines).


Project Events: 

  • December 21, 2022 -Final submittal submitted to Ecology
  • December 7, 2022 - Department of Ecology provided initial concurrence of proposed finding of adequacy.
  • December 5, 2022 - Initial submittal submitted to Department of Ecology
  • December 19, 2022 - Council to adopt Finding of Adequacy Resolution
  • October 20 - November 21  30-day Joint Comment Period
  • November 21  Council meeting Joint Public Hearing with Department of Ecology
  • September 6 – Council meeting briefing of survey results and preliminary draft Periodic Review Checklist 
  • August 15 – Council meeting Open House for project overview and launch the Community Survey
