July 22, 2025 - Wahkiakum PUD is expected to mail informational postcards in August regarding the upcoming utility billing transition. These postcards will include details about any rates changes, autopay options, instructions for setting up a new account (if needed), landlord/tenant information, etc. In the meantime, the following timeline has been confirmed:

  • August 6 – The Town will issue its final utility billing for July usage. Payments for this billing will be due by September 5th.
  • Mid to Late August – Wahkiakum PUD will conduct a partial meter read in preparation for its billing cycle.
  • September – PUD will assume full responsibility for all utility billing services, including late fees, shutoffs, and collections, beginning with statements dated August 30.
  • Through September 30 – The Town will continue to accept payments for the August 6th billing and any outstanding balances from prior periods.

On July 7, 2025, the Cathlamet Town Council approved an Asset Transfer Agreement that transfers ownership and management of the Town’s water and sewer utilities to Wahkiakum PUD.  Effective July 15th, Wahkiakum PUD has assumed ownership and operational responsibility for the Town’s water system. Responsibility for the sewer system will transfer to the PUD on August 1st.

As the transition moves forward, all Town utility customers should continue managing their utility bills and related inquiries through the Town as usual, until an official joint notice is issued by the Town and PUD outlining next steps. Our shared goal is to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to customers.

For additional information, please visit the PUD’s website: Wahkiakum PUD

Please note the following service updates:

  • Effective immediately, the Town of Cathlamet will no longer accept applications for new utility service connections.
  • All inquiries regarding new service installations/connections should be directed to Wahkiakum PUD.
  • New accounts for existing services will continue to be processed by the Town until further notice.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this transition.

Best regards,

Town of Cathlamet
