Where else can you spend 10 minutes answering 10 questions that will affect your community for 10 years?  The 2020 US Census is closer than you think!Everyone counts, and the Census under the US Constitution is required to count every person in the United States every 10 years.  It is critical that small Towns such as Cathlamet and rural areas such as Wahkiakum County be accurately counted! Why?  Census results determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year. The results also determine legislative seats including how much representation our community has in the US Congress.School lunches. Plans for highways. Support for firefighters and families in need. Highway planning and construction. Programs to support rural areas, restore wildlife, recover from natural disasters, prepare for wildfires, prevent child abuse, and provide housing assistance for older adults. For these and countless other tasks, Census results will affect our community every day for the next decade! Confidentiality is critical and no personal information can be disclosed outside the Census, but the statistical data helps inform government decisions that will affect your life and the lives of countless others!Households in Wahkiakum County will begin receiving official Census Bureau notices in only a few weeks, containing detailed instructions on how to respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail. Please continue to support your local Town, County and State by completing your 2020 Census and encouraging your neighbors and friends to do the same!More information, including on the Census process, purposes and privacy protections, is available on the US Census website here  https://2020census.gov/en.html
